Perhaps somewhat contradicting your last paragraph — but I would say that if one cannot experience Vipassana for themselves, the second best thing would be reading this essay to absorb at least a small percentage of the wisdom imbued by the experience through the words written here :)

You did what we in Seōn Imge Buddhism (Korean Rinzai)call "hard practice." Congratulations! The point of all the pain, both physical and mental, is ultimately to make you able to universally benefit all beings. Compassion is the heartblood of all Buddhist practice in my own experience.

To be honest, this sounds brutal ❤️ I’ve been meditating for years but never wanted to do a retreat- I remember one teacher i had talking about how he made up stories about everyone in his retreat experience. Thanks for sharing-loved Baby Yoda! 😂😂

Super powerful! I've been looking at Vipassana for several years now and feel very grateful to read your account within the lens of the broader regenerative movement.

I've often shared with my community that I believe "regeneration begins within", but I think it's more like a ebb and a tide. There are seasons where I am very drawn to outer regeneration and seasons where I am drawn inward. It's a constantly unfolding process where one teaches us about the other.

I'm curious if you've also felt drawn to sit with plant medicines along your path or just the medicine of silence and stillness?
